Each year the World Health Organization (WHO) and The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) implement changes to the ICD-10 diagnosis coding system for medical claims.  The changes for 2020 are effective on October 1, 2019, providers are expected to implement these changes on any claim with a date of service October 1st or after.
