Competency-based education (CBE) is being highly regarded by the higher education community for its effectiveness and future outcomes. More than 30 million Americans fall in the category of "some college, no degree" and require the flexibility to pursue higher education with feasible and more cost-effective options.

An estimated 34 U.S. institutions now offer some form of competency-based learning and credit by exam according to research by Robert Kelchen which hints that this method of teaching will soon be adopted by newer schools across the country.

At its core, CBE focuses on learning outcomes and does not focus on the number of classroom hours spent. In traditional educational programs, students are bound by weekly classes of a term and attending all classes does not guarantee that their grades will always be good. On the other hand, in CBE, time is the variable and student success is measured in terms of the competencies achieved over time in reference to the program chosen by the student. Moreover, they are encouraged to earn credits for the same until they are achieved.

This webinar by expert speaker Kent Seaver will provide you an overview on how competency-based education is implemented in institutions of higher education across the country and share examples on how they positively impact a student’s educational career. He will elicit various alignment techniques that will show how course material is covered in CBE exams (AP, CLEP, DSST) as compared to college courses of 2 and/or 4 years.

He will also show you how affordable these courses are and how the money saved from pursuing them can help a student focus on higher academics later on in life. With the help of this webinar, you can make key considerations and plan for a competency-based educational system in your own educational institution.
