Federal law requires that every employer who recruits refers to a fee or hires an individual for employment in the U.S.must complete Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. The Form I-9 process, managed by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, will help you verify your employee's identity and employment authorization.

A lot of executives think all workers are trustworthy, and/or unable to take advantage of IT systems. This is far from the case. Almost no systems are designed to prevent collusion – two or more people working in concert to defraud. Even if IT systems are perfectly developed, and your internal policies and procedures fool-proof, Hackers and thieves are usually one or two steps ahead. Lastly, Reviews and Audits are often delayed or not done at all, negating all chance of detection.

Join our expert Mr.Schwartz who was an internal auditor for the State of California for 7 years and Learn what he knows about this very important reality. The presentation will be 75 minutes, with a 15 minute Q and Thereafter. Mr. Schwartz welcomes questions via email after the conference.

Session Highlights:

Among other things, we will discuss the following:

  • The ways in which fraud can be perpetrated against your company – For payroll and other departments, what are the most common forms of employee fraud? What detection signs should you be looking for?

  • Reconciliation, the most frequent, and often neglected, form of fraud control – Simple reconciliation of payroll records, performed periodically but regularly, can result in preventing payroll related fraud. We will present a refresher course on how to do so.

  • How to conduct internal fraud audits, in order to detect weaknesses in your current payroll and accounting systems – Whether you have a formal internal audit function or not, it is always best to find and correct inefficient and ineffective work procedures before someone else does. We will show you the methods used by professionals.

  • How to adjust your oversight methods, to catch fraud before it happens– The best correction of all is prevention. You will learn how to use technology and common sense to deter employees from even trying to rip you off.

  • What to do if you suspect employees of fraud – It’s going to happen. Even if those in your employ are completely trustworthy right now, you never know when stress will force them to do things they otherwise wouldn’t. Also, with turnover comes dishonest workers. So when you catch a thief, you must know what to do with the thief.
