Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. The principal objective of Title IX is to avoid the use of federal money to support sex discrimination in education programs and to provide individual citizens effective protection against those practices.
The lack of understanding that colleges and universities have in regard to Title IX enforcement is alarming, and now is the time that sexual assaults are treated like they should be: as real egregious acts that will not be tolerated.
This presentation by expert Kent Seaver is designed to educate staff in the proper way to approach Title IX issues that exist on college campuses. With the increase in Office of Civil Rights Investigations, this instruction has never been more important. The underlying purpose will be to show the viewer how to:
Create a community that knows how to respond and provide support to victims of relationship and sexual violence on the ever-changing college campus.
How to utilize approaches aimed at diverse student populations.
Understand and replicate a system that provides information on safe and positive options that can be used to teach Title IX basics and detailed instructions in areas such as bystander intervention and special student population forums.
